The Best Registry Cleaner For Windows XP

Aug 28, 2009

Windows XP might be several years old now, but it's still used by millions of people every day, many of whom have to put up with the many problems and faults that the 'registry' causes. This hidden part of XP is one of the most important on your system, but it's also known as the "Achilles Heel" of Windows as it is responsible for causing problems such as a slow PC and constant errors. To fix it, you just need to use a registry cleaner... but you need to make sure you have the best one!

Although there are many different registry cleaners out there, they have all been designed to do the same job, which is to clean out a part of your system called the 'registry'. This is a part of your system which is hidden from everyday view, but is one of the most important and crucial parts of Windows. The registry is a big database which stores all sorts of information and settings about the software and hardware of your computer, allowing your computer to "remember" a variety of things even when it's turned off and on again.

Because the registry holds around 100,000 files, it's constantly being used by Windows to tell it what to do at various times. Each time you use your PC, it's using 100's of registry files which tell it everything from which Internet favorites you have to how much hard drive space you have remaining. These files are very important but also cause some of the most common computer problems. The problem is that when the registry files are being used, Windows is constantly getting confused, saving the files in the wrong way. This makes them incredibly hard to read, making your computer have to take longer to decipher them (their contents are all mixed up like a book with its pages in the wrong order). This slows your computer down and can cause errors if the files cannot be read properly.

Registry cleaners have been invented to fix this, but you need to be very careful which one you use. You see, XP is relatively old now... and although it's still being used by millions of people all over the globe (me included), not many cleaners can fix it's problems effectively. In fact, most registry cleaners can cause more damage to your PC than good. Basically, there are many important files inside your registry which show your computer how to do things such as boot up and log in. If any of these files are deleted or changed, then Windows will simply stop working... and the trouble is most XP registry cleaners will have no trouble in deleting many of these files in order to make it look like they have found a lot more errors than what they really have.

That's why you need to stick to using a registry cleaner which is both effective and safe. There are only a handful of these, and they have all been produced by professional software teams, who have the skills and resources to continually improve and upgrade their software to keep up with the latest problems. We found one such cleaner, RegAce, to work extremely well on XP. Having been launched early this year, it's relatively new to the market, but it has quickly become very popular thanks to it having features such as a backup facility and an advanced scanning engine to help it find more problems. When we used it on our XP machines, it worked extremely well and improved their performance a lot.
